Grayscales

When printing in monochrome mode Bentley Advanced Map Finishing can produce solid black text and graphics or grayscales by using varying densities of dots.

A grayscale represents the ratio of white to black ink that is present in a fill. The normal black fill has a grayscale of 0.0 and a white fill has a grayscale of 1.0. Some intermediate shades are shown below.

Bentley Advanced Map Finishing commands are used to tag elements with grayscale information. If an element has no grayscale information, it is printed black.

Grayscale information is only used when printing in monochrome, or with colour if the colour scales option is selected.
